Window Workshop
Traditional Window Restoration Workshop
Hosted by Marie Taylor of True North Preservation
📍 Location TBD | 🗓️ Saturday, July 26 | 🕒 10:00-3:00 PM
Join us for a hands-on workshop that brings history to life through the art of traditional window restoration. Led by Marie Taylor of True North Preservation, this immersive session is perfect for anyone curious about historic windows—no experience required!
This workshop will begin with a classroom-style overview covering the history, materials, and manufacturing techniques of traditional windows. From there, participants will get hands-on with real historic window components that Marie will bring on-site. You’ll learn practical skills and restoration techniques in a supportive, beginner-friendly environment.
Whether you're a homeowner looking to care for your historic property, a preservation professional brushing up on the basics or looking to expand your repertoire, or simply a fan of old windows and sustainability, this workshop offers the perfect introduction.
We’ll break the day into manageable segments, making it accessible to all participants—including those who may not be able to stand for long periods. Attendance will be capped at 20 people to keep the experience personal and engaging. If interest exceeds that number, there is a possibility of second session being added.
About the Instructor:
Marie Taylor is the owner and operator of True North Preservation, a St. Louis-based company specializing in the restoration of historic windows and doors. A Secretary of the Interior–qualified architectural historian, Marie first fell in love with historic building restoration at the village of Faust Park. Her journey continued in her hometown of Detroit, Michigan, where she honed her craft in historic window repair. Today, she combines her technical expertise and passion for storytelling to help others see—and save—the history that surrounds them. Marie loves coffee, old stuff, and building a more sustainable future, one window at a time.
