FAQs

  • We are a registered 501c4- A 501c4 is defined as a Social Welfare Organization. Social welfare organizations, such as civic organizations or leagues, exist for the express purpose of promoting social benefits to the community. Social welfare organizations may also be called social welfare nonprofits, civic leagues, or public benefit organizations.

  • 501(c)(4) organizations, which are primarily focused on promoting social welfare and engaging in political advocacy to promote that social welfare, are classified differently from 501(c)(3) charitable organizations. Contributions to 501(c)(4)s are not tax-deductible for the donor because these organizations can engage in substantial lobbying and political activities, which is outside the scope of traditional charitable purposes defined by the IRS. The tax code specifically distinguishes between types of tax-exempt organizations, allowing 501(c)(3) organizations to offer tax-deductible contributions while placing restrictions on 501(c)(4) groups to maintain their focus on social welfare and non-profit activities, thereby preserving the public interest in charitable giving.

  • The money raised during our first house tour is going towards getting our 501c4 set up, items we need for future walks & talks, events, as well as hopefully a 501c3 branch that we plan to have. The 501c3 will allow people to donate as a tax write off, and those funds will help us give back to members of the community. More details on this coming soon!

  • Well, nobody elected us, we just happened to be friends, family, neighbors or aquaintances that shared a passion for preservation in our neighborhood. After our initial set up, we plan to allow other members of the community to join our board and fill our positions if desired!

  • No, we are all separate entities that exist to serve our community. However, we believe in our community and gladly support their programs, events and fundraisers. That’s part of the beauty of living in Rountree!

  • For right now, we choose the subjects we feel will be most informational to the community. At future events, we hope that we can get input from various members of the community and cover those topics they are interested in!

  • No- We serve the entire community, we are called the Rountree Council for Preservation because that’s where we started. We support all neighboring communities and hope to educate and preserve throughout our beautiful Queen City!
